Welcome to my website!
My name is Johnny. I'm an actor, director, teacher and
writer. On my home page here I have listed four solo shows that I can
perform at your school, theater, prison, or other venue. Contact
me if you are interested.
Recently, I directed a production of Hamlet at
Two Rivers Correctional Institution, near Umatilla, Oregon. (See below
under Hamlet.) (For more on the things I do in prison,
see www.openheartsopenminds.net.)
Even more recently (January 5-March 7, 2009), I was
artist-in-residence at Catlin Gabel High School, in Portland. Robert
Medley, the Theater Director, and I co-directed Romeo and Juliet.
There were two performances, the evenings of March 6 and 7. In
February, I co-taught an English Literature class on
Shakespeare with Art Leo at the school. At the end of six weeks,
students performed rehearsed readings, with some memorisation, of three
plays they abridged: Macbeth, Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet.
Next up is a performance of my show Silence (see below) at the First Unitarian Church of Portland, on April 2, 2009, at 7 pm.
On April 26, 2009, I will be performing my solo version of Hamlet (see below) in Davis, California, as a benefit for the Yolo Basin Foundation.

I premiered this show in June of
2005 at Brooklyn Bay, in Portland, Oregon. I have subsequently
performed it in prison, in theaters, high schools and colleges around the
Northwest. Also at the Teatro Tanque in Guanajuato, Mexico! If
you are teaching Hamlet
and would like to bring this hour-and-a-half long show to your school,
please contact me. (It's also possible for me to do an hour-long
version.) If you would like me to bring this show to
your theater, prison or other venue, please call
me at 503-347-6869 or email me at stallingsjohnny@gmail.com
.

were given a standing ovation.

in Davis, California, on Sunday, April 26th, as a benefit for the Yolo
Basin Foundation. For more information, call Margaret Kralovec at
